SKD WIREPartly True
Pre-registration stock for SK Telecom's newly launched iPhone Duo sold out within one minute at some carriers, but the impression that carriers' entire preparation volumes were exhausted in a minute is an exaggeration: KT's full allocation lasted about 40 minutes, and LG Uplus's status could not be officially confirmed.
SK Telecom and KT officially announced that a portion of their priority preparation stock was gone within one minute of opening. The claim as originally circulated, however, implied that the carriers' overall prepared volumes sold out in that span — a characterization that goes beyond what the two companies confirmed.
KT's total allocation, by contrast, took roughly 40 minutes to deplete, indicating the minute-long sellout applied only to a limited portion of the stock at each of the two carriers.
For LG Uplus, the third major carrier, the sellout status of its allocation could not be officially verified. No official figure or timeline has been made available for its prepared volumes, leaving a full picture of nationwide demand incomplete.
The sellout of limited priority stock within a minute is a fact, but the generalization that carriers' prepared volumes as a whole vanished in one minute is not supported by the carriers' own announcements. The overall claim is Partly True.
Verdict: Partly True
