SES AI, a US-based battery developer, has expanded its Korean production facility to one million NDAA-compliant battery cells and plans to grow capacity threefold next year, according to company figures.
The company disclosed that its Korean plant, which it operates in partnership with CJ, has been scaled up to produce one million cells that comply with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The facility has also received ISO 9001 certification, according to materials published by the company.
The NDAA compliance designation matters for battery makers seeking to supply US government-related and defense-adjacent markets, where sourcing restrictions apply to components of certain foreign origin. A Korean production base allows SES AI to position its output within the NDAA framework.
Looking ahead, SES AI said it intends to expand capacity threefold next year, building on the one-million-cell baseline.
Both figures — the one million cells currently produced and the planned tripling — are self-reported by the company, and the expansion remains a stated plan rather than an installed outcome.
SES AI's claim of a one-million-cell NDAA-compliant capacity in Korea with a threefold expansion planned for next year is True.
