True
South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety have agreed to cooperate across the entire lifecycle of the bio industry, spanning AI-based manufacturing conversion through to export support.
The cooperation covers the full value chain of the bio sector — from the "AI conversion" of production processes to commercialization and export — rather than being limited to a single stage of development. The arrangement positions the two ministries to align their respective jurisdictions: industrial policy and technology on one side, and regulatory approval authority on the other.
A central element of the partnership is the application of AI to bio manufacturing. By combining the industry ministry's industrial technology programs with the food and drug safety ministry's regulatory expertise, the agencies aim to support companies adopting AI across production and quality processes in the bio field.
The cooperation also extends downstream to exports, meaning companies will be able to draw on joint ministry support from early development stages through to overseas sales — an approach the agencies describe as "full-cycle" cooperation for the bio industry.
