SK Planet has launched a service that lets users buy and sell stocks directly through its OK Cashback loyalty platform via a link-up with KB Securities, according to reports on September 29.
The new service allows OK Cashback users to convert their loyalty points into stock purchases through KB Securities' trading system, giving customers a way to invest accumulated rewards rather than simply redeeming them for discounts or goods.
OK Cashback is SK Planet's integrated loyalty point service, widely used across SK Group affiliates and partner merchants. The link-up with KB Securities marks the platform's entry into stock investing, an area traditionally reserved for brokerage apps.
Images published by Yonhap, ZDNet Korea and NewsPim on September 29 show the service interface as introduced by the two companies.
The move reflects a broader trend of loyalty and payment platforms expanding into financial services, using their large user bases and point balances as a bridge to investment products. SK Planet and KB Securities have not publicly disclosed transaction volumes or fees for the new feature.
Details on whether point-to-stock conversion is subject to taxation or minimum balance requirements were not included in the initial coverage.
The claim that OK Cashback users can now buy and sell stocks through a SK Planet–KB Securities service is True.
